Last season, the Basketball Federation announced that each team could recruit four national players, but this season, national players have been signed by the prominent teams from last season with good contracts, and some teams don’t even have one national player. For instance, Bahman group has 10 national players, while Pas Tehran, which recently moved up from the first league to the premier league, couldn’t bring in a notable player due to legal salary restrictions, which will definitely impact the quality of the league.

However, a notable and important point we observed in the Premier League this season is the absence of Eleni Kapouchianni, the head coach of the national team, from watching the league matches, and even the national team’s coaches and managers are not attending the league games to see the competitions.

While the Greek coach is a notable absence in the Women’s Premier Basketball League in Iran, in another team sport, Lee Do-hee, the South Korean head coach of the national women’s volleyball team, has been sitting in the stands of the federation hall since the beginning of the league, constantly moving around to assess the games and players. This is a major weakness that is very apparent in women’s basketball and could rob even newly promoted teams from the first division of the opportunity to identify top talents.

What is clear is that the Greek coach, along with the national team coaches, will likely choose players from the top three teams in the league as they have in the past, showing little interest in players from lower-ranked teams, which is very important and can lead to a decrease in motivation and effort among the players.
