The 39th World Congress of the International Volleyball Federation was held, and a new president was elected for the federation.

At the 39th World Congress of Volleyball, Fabio Azevedo, who previously served as the Executive Director of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), was elected as the new president of the federation. The Brazilian will hold this position until 2032.

In his first move, he appointed Hugh McCutcheon as the Secretary General of FIVB.

Ari Grasa had previously held the presidency of the International Volleyball Federation since 2012.
