The stars of Russian freestyle wrestling are signing contracts to participate in the top league in Iran.

The semifinals of the freestyle wrestling league will be held on December 7 at the Shahid-e Hafta Tir Hall in Tehran, with the final four teams for this competition now determined. The semifinals will take place with the presence of the teams of Bank Shahr, Mo’eenipour Food Industries, Saipia, and Setaregan Pas Sari.

The four teams competing in this stage have signed cooperation agreements with well-known wrestlers for the championship of the 24th Iranian wrestling league.

Akmet Osmanov, the world wrestling champion in 2023, in an interview with IRNA, stated that his participation in the top wrestling league in Iran is likely. He mentioned, “I am currently negotiating with the Mo’eenipour Wrestling team,” adding, “I had good discussions and am on the verge of reaching a final agreement. I will likely compete in the Iranian wrestling league and will step onto the mat wearing this team’s uniform. The Iranian league has high potential, and the competition is very fierce.”

Also yesterday, Morteza Ghorbani, the head coach of Setaregan Pas Sari, said, “For the semifinals, we intend to use three Russian wrestlers in our team lineup. Right now, Ahmad Idrisov is set for the 57 kg category, and Magomed Qurbanov will compete in either the 92 or 97 kg category for this team.”

He added, “We have also negotiated with Artur Naifonov for the 86 kg category, and it is very likely that this wrestler, who has experience facing Hassan Yazdani, will come to Iran.”
