پیشکسوت فوتبال ایران گفت: دریافت چهار گل در دو بازی برای تیم ملی، هشداری جدی است. ساختار دفاعی ما دچار مشکل بوده و باید تدبیری از سوی کادرفنی در نظر گرفته شود تا در مسابقات مهم به‌خصوص در جام‌جهانی با اتفاقات بدی مواجه نشویم.

The veteran Iranian footballer said: conceding four goals in two matches for the national team is a serious warning. Our defensive structure has problems, and the coaching staff needs to figure out a way to avoid any bad incidents in crucial matches, especially in the World Cup.

Ali-Asghar Modirroosta referred to the national football team’s victory over Kyrgyzstan in the sixth week of Group A qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup in Asia, stating: the national team performed well in terms of results against Kyrgyzstan and secured three important points on the road to the World Cup.

He added: Iran’s advancement to the World Cup seems certain. Considering the group we’ve been drawn into, it was clear that Iran would qualify easily and as the top team. Our plan should be future-oriented, and we need to focus on incorporating young players into our lineup so they can gain experience for upcoming tournaments.

The former Iranian national team player noted: the national team easily finds the opponent’s goal in the first half. Given the players we have in the national squad, this seems natural; however, Iran’s major challenge in recent matches has been in the second half, which leads to us conceding goals too easily.

Modirroosta emphasized: the national team may have weaknesses in defense, but one significant issue in our games is that the ball transition from the midfield to the attack happens too slowly. Our midfield players are sluggish, and the national team’s coaches need to address this.

He stressed: conceding four goals in two matches is not a good outcome for Iran’s national team. Our defensive structure has issues, and the coaching staff needs to come up with a strategy.

The Iranian football veteran said: the national team definitely needs tactical changes. Giving the midfield away to the opponent in the second half is a huge weakness. We often see Mehdi Taremi and Sardar Azmoun dropping back to retrieve the ball. These weaknesses could lead to bitter experiences in the future, especially in the World Cup, against stronger opponents. We are all concerned about these existing weaknesses and hope they can be resolved.
