Regarding training with the Greek coach of the women’s national basketball team, she pointed out: We have had very good training sessions with Eleni Kapogianni. She has a European mindset, and since she took over the national women’s basketball team last year, she has been able to make a lot of changes, which has been really beneficial for us. I hope this trend continues.

The national women’s basketball team player added: Eleni changed our style of play, and our level of play had somewhat become closer to that of Europeans, but we need more practice and friendly games. We were really great in the Asia Cup, and in the final match, we lost by just one point due to individual mistakes. We could have gone further, but two and four years ago, we placed fifth and sixth in the Asia Cup, and last year we were the runners-up. We could have been champions, but we lost the title because of one mistake.

She reminded: Our situation in Asia has changed a lot, but the federation needs to create new opportunities, and we need to have friendly games to elevate our level. There hasn’t been any discussion about friendly games yet, but we are following up to make these matches happen and to improve.

Rosuli-Port stressed: The weakness of women’s basketball is that we have few sponsors, and we don’t have friendly games at a national level; last year we only had a friendly match at the William Jones Cup and three games with Lebanon. These matches had a significant impact on our performance in the Asia Cup, which led us to second place. It would be better if they continue this trend or even improve the conditions.
