جام‌جهانی کاراته؛ صعود کومیته‌ مردان و کاتای زنان ایران به یک‌چهارم

جام جهانی تیمی کاراته با صعود تیم‌های کومیته‌ مردان و کاتای زنان ایران به یک‌چهارم آغاز شد.

The Karate Team World Cup began with the advancement of the Iranian men’s kumite team and women’s kata team to the quarter-finals.

The first edition of the Karate Team World Cup kicked off this morning in Pamplona, Spain. The men’s kumite (fighting) team and the women’s and men’s kata (form performance) teams from Iran have qualified for this event.

Previously, the team competitions were held alongside the individual World Championship matches, but from this year onwards, they are being conducted separately. In this context, the World Cup in Spain carries the label of “first edition.”

Initially, the Iranian women’s kata team, consisting of Mahsa Afshaneh, Maria Hosseiniyayi Salimi, and Parisa Rahmani, advanced to the quarter-finals as Team C after defeating Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Colombia, but losing to Spain. Tonight, Mahsa Afshaneh’s students will face the Italian team, the top team from Group A, in the quarter-finals.

Then, the men’s kumite competitions began with the prestigious Iranian team, led by Seyed Shahram Heravi, taking to the tatami in Group A. The team from Iran included Bahman Asgari, Morteza Namati, Mehdi Shahgol, Mehdi Khodabakhshi, Mehdi Ganjzadeh, Mehdi Ashouri, Mahmoud Namati, and Saleh Abazari.

Heravi’s students made it through as group leaders after securing four consecutive victories against North Macedonia (3-0), Croatia (3-1), Italy (3-1), and Australia (3-2). The Iranian team is set to compete in the quarter-finals tonight, with their opponent yet to be determined.
