مربی دراگون‌بوت: نگاه حرفه‌ای به این رشته نمی‌شود

مربی پیشین تیم ملی دراگون بوت گفت: آنگونه که در دنیا به این رشته توجه می‌شود در ایران نگاه حرفه‌ای به دراگون بوت نمی‌شود و باید نگاه جدی‌تر و ملی‌تری به این رشته شود.

وی در پاسخ به این پرسش که چرا تیم ملی دراگون بوت به مسابقات جهانی اعزام نمی‌شود و در قالب باشگاهی راهی چنین رقابت‌هایی می‌شوید، خاطرنشان کرد: در بحث تیم ملی باید فدراسیون قایقرانی و وزارت پاسخگو باشند اما چون دراگون بوت رشته غیرالمپیکی است، بودجه‌ای به آن اختصاص داده نمی‌شود تا اعزام برون مرزی داشته باشیم. اگر تیم ملی تشکیل شود، بازتاب بهتری خواهیم داشت.

غریبی ادامه داد: بعد از اینکه باشگاه ملوان در لیگ برتر اول شد بلافاصله تیم را تقویت و از نفرات برتر تیم‌های دیگر استفاده شد و شاکله ملوان تیم ملی بود و به عنوان نماینده ایران در مسبقات جهانی شرکت کردیم اما در اصلی تیم ملی اعزام شد و اگر تیم باشگاهی را اعزامی می‌کردیم، نتیجه نمی‌گرفتیم و این نتایج برگرفته از تیم قدرتمندی است.

وی یادآور شد: اصلی‌ترین مشکل ما در دراگون بوت سخت افزاری و قایق است که باید بعد همگانی و زمینه توسعه آن فراهم شود. هرچند دریاچه آزادی در اختیار ماست اما اصلی ترین مشکل سخت افزار و قایق است. پهنای آبی هم مشکل دیگری است که باید در تمام استان‌ها آن را بوجود بیاوریم. باشگاه‌هایی را در شهرهایی که پتانسیل آبی دارند، ایجاد کنیم. در دراگون بوت رده سنی محدودیتی ندارد و حتی بالای ۶۰ سال هم در تیم حضور دارند.

مسابقات قهرمانی جهان دراگون بوت در فیلیپین از دهم تا سیزدهم آبانماه برگزار شد. تیم‌های سکان تهران در رده بانوان بزرگسال، ملوان نداجا در بخش آزاد مردان و آوش خلیج فارس در رده آزاد بانوان و جوانان در این رقابت‌ها شرکت کردند. بر این اساس نمایندگان ایران با کسب مجموعا ۴ طلا، ٣ نقره و ٣ برنز به کار خود در مسابقات دراگون‌بوت قهرمانی جهان پایان دادند.

The top eight teams in mixed events were set to compete, but we didn’t participate in the mixed category. We joined the women’s categories in under-18, adult, and over-40 divisions in the 10-person boat. We came away with a total of 10 medals in this competition, among 27 countries.

He added: With whispers of this sport making a trial appearance in the Olympics, it finally entered the World Games for the first time. Prominent and established teams from Hungary, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, the USA, and Canada participated in the world championship. Overall, the competition was really good, and in the men’s section, we improved our record by 17 seconds in the 2000 meters and by 1 second in the 500 meters.

The coach of the Malavan team remarked: Up until now, we haven’t won a gold medal in the adult 10-person boat category, and in the men’s events, we secured one bronze and two silver medals. Our men earned medals in all three distances and were better in terms of quality. However, the quality of the women’s medals was better than that of the men’s. Our men outperformed teams from Spain, Thailand, the Philippines, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Ukraine, Russia, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Germany, with Thailand being the only team to beat us.

In response to the question of why the national dragon boat team isn’t sent to world competitions and instead participates as a club, he pointed out: Regarding the national team, the rowing federation and the ministry should be accountable, but since dragon boat racing is a non-Olympic sport, it doesn’t get the budget needed for international trips. If a national team is formed, we’ll have a better reflection.

Gharibi continued: After the Malavan club finished first in the Premier League, we immediately strengthened the team and utilized top players from other teams. The core of Malavan was the national team, and we participated as Iran’s representative in global competitions. However, if we had sent a club team, we wouldn’t have achieved the same results, and these outcomes stem from a strong team.

He reminded us that our main issue in dragon boat racing is the hardware and the boats, which need to be developed and made more accessible for everyone. Although we have the Azadi Lake at our disposal, the primary challenge is still the equipment and the boats. The water width is another problem that needs to be created in all provinces. We should establish clubs in cities with water potential. In dragon boat racing, there are no age restrictions, and even those over 60 are part of the teams.

The former national dragon boat coach said: “The way this sport is treated around the world, there isn’t a professional perspective on dragon boat racing in Iran. A more serious and national outlook is required for this sport. We have always tried to keep dragon boat racing independent of government budgets. There needs to be more support for this sport. Although for delegations, the federation has helped with administrative processes, providing training locations, gyms, and accommodation, this sport requires a dedicated budget so that the national team can participate in world competitions.”

The Dragon Boat World Championships took place in the Philippines from November 1st to 3rd. The teams Sokhan Tehran in the women’s senior category, Malavan Navy in the men’s open section, and Avash Persian Gulf in the women’s and youth open categories participated in these competitions. Accordingly, Iran’s representatives concluded their participation in the World Dragon Boat Championship with a total of 4 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
