The International Olympic Committee welcomed South Africa’s bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics.

According to a statement from the International Olympic Committee, South African Sports Minister Gaiton McKenzie, along with the President of the National Olympic Committee of the country, met with Thomas Bach, the IOC President, to discuss the possibility of hosting the 2036 Summer Games.

The proposal to host the 2036 Olympics has been positively received by the Olympic Committee officials, and all relevant matters are set to be discussed and deliberated. They announced their support for this initiative and are looking to have this plan carefully considered as a step forward.

Previously, India and Qatar had also submitted proposals to host this edition of the Games.
